  • WHAT IS IT: This historic royal castle is home, not only to the Queen, but a huge variety of priceless artefacts from Britain’s history including art, furniture and jewellery. As the largest occupied castle in the World, Windsor Castle draws thousands of tourists who are eager to view famous sights such as Queen Mary’s Dolls House, St. George’s Chapel and of course – the changing of the guard!.
  • HOW FAR IS IT: Windsor Castle is approximately 20.6 miles from the Park Hotel and just over a 30 minute journey by car.


Windsor Castle has a great way of educating children about history while keeping it fun and interesting.

On Saturdays throughout the year, various family events are run to entertain and teach the little ones about the castle and its history.

Queen Mary’s dolls house is a very popular attraction here as well as a variety of family trails and activities that are available at no extra charge.


From the changing of the guard to St. George’s chapel, Windsor Castle has so much to offer in the form of both education and entertainment! Made nearly 500 years ago, Henry VIII’s enormous suit of armour is a fabulous must-see and the magnificent state apartments are also high up most peoples “to do” list here.

The towers, arrow loops and look out points in the castle precincts are a stark reminder of times gone by and very atmospheric.

To mark the 200th year anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, there is a themed trail running throughout 2015 named “Waterloo at Windsor: 1815 – 2015” which is a must-see for any lover of history.

As part of this exhibition, recovered artefacts from the battlefield will be showcased as well as various prints and drawings from these times.
